The Presidency counsellor, Vicente Guillén, announced it this morning in Riglos
The Presidency councillor of the Aragón Government, Vicente Guillén, announced the next construction project, a heliport, in the Logistics Platform of Huesca (Plhus) this morning. This will house both Civil Guard helicopters, dedicated to mountain rescue and helicopers intended for medical transport. Minister Guillén made this announcement in a presentation, in the Interpretation Centre in Riglos, after evaluating the number mountain rescues carried out by the Civil Guard in the Aragon region last summer.
The Health councillor for the Aragon Government, Sebastián Celaya, was also at the event, along with the Director General of Justice and Interior, Ms Angeles Júlvez León.
The heliport that will be built in PLHUS will be installed on a plot of approximately 1.5 hectares and will have an approximate budget of 500 000 euros. In addition to the runway intended for helicopter landing and take-off, it will have an area destined for permanent pilots and the necessary personnel for this type of operation, in addition to a warehouse designed for diverse materials.
The Security and Civil Protection Service will receive the first project data in the coming days and the Aragon Government’s intention is to provide a departure in the next fiscal year to complete its construction in 2018.
“It is the Argon Government’s contribution that which makes to the magnificent work carried out by the Civil Guard in the Huesca region possible which, together with the medical assistance of 061 (Spanish equivalence of 999), provide the region with an additional security and guarantees when it comes to practising extreme sports.
Mountain Observatory
Councillor Guillén also announced that in the coming days, they will begin the process of public exposure to the Decree that will regulate the authorisation of a Mountain Observatory. This phase begins so that all the associations and people linked to the mountaineering field can contribute to this initial text.
Assessment
With regard to the assessment of the Civil Guard, last summer they carried out 308 operations, with 450 people rescued, of which 13 died, 246 resulted in injuries and 291 needed subsequent hospital admission due to injuries suffered.
The rescues carried out by the Civil Guard in the Aragon Region last summer accounted for 53.66% of the rescues carried out throughout the national territory.
