More then 16 000 employees work in the Zaragoza, Huesca, Teruel and Fraga platforms
The Department of Economy, Industry and Employment maintains its commitment to continue promoting this sector in Aragon
The Aragon Government has sold almost 555 000 metres squared in Plaza (Zaragoza), Platea (Teruel) and the Fraga Logistics Platform from the start of this term. In the Dinamiza Business Park, Expo Zaragoza Empresarial, the number of metres rented during this period exceed 8900. The return to the intense activity in the management of the same, its unification under the unique brand, Aragon Logistics Platform (APL), and the marketing drive have managed to relaunch sales and boost the arrival of revenue to the public coffers for this concept.
Regarding the commercialisation in the Aragonese platforms, Plaza has sold 355 000 square meters during the last two years, which increases the commercialised area of the Zaragoza platform to 83%. The Zaragoza Logistics Platform houses more than 350 companies and has become an international benchmark in terms of intermodal connection and quality commitment.
For its part, the Huesca Platform (Plhus) have sold more than 22 100 square meters in the last two years and purchase options have been formalised for another 3448 metres, in addition to 2170 meters for rental in warehouses and lots. Among the companies that have acquired land during these two years are Callizo Transport, Hierros Alfonso, Audi Seat and Montajes Industriales del Alto Gállego (MIAG) and the facilities have seen the start-up of Gaypu or the manufacturing activity of Ascaso Bakery, among others
In the Teruel platform, Platea, during the last two years almost 48 000 square meters have been sold, options for buying have been signed for an additional 45 000 meters and 4354 metres have been rented. With the purchase of the Röchling multinational, among others, and the start-up of the Ronal Ibérica plant, Platea is already a leading centre of activity for the automotive auxiliary sector, although the agri-food industry also has a notable weight in the platform. This same week the purchase of land on the Teruel platform by Jamones Albarracín was announced.
Finally, as for Expo Zaragoza Empresarial, the Dinamiza Expo Business Park has rented more than 8900 meters in the last two years. In 2017, this business park absorbed 40% of this type of rent that were formalised in the Aragonese capital and received 250 new employees in offices. At the moment, more than 3000 people occupy the space which will house Expo del Agua.
Aragon Logistics Platform was launched in 2017. The President of Aragon, Javier Lambán, opted for its creation as “a unique brand to attract more companies that will contribute decisively to the fact that logistics is a fundamental factor of economic consolidation in the European situation”.
The logistics platforms and Expo Zaragoza Empresarial business park, integrated in APL, involve more than 16 000 employees from the 500 companies located in these logistics business environments and all public facilities are about to initiate different improvement processes. The Aragon Government consider logistics as a strategic sector in the Executive’s policies. This was confirmed this week, during the counsellor for Economy, Industry and Employment, and president of APL, Marta Gastón’s appearance in the Argonese Courts.
The commercial revival of the platforms and the recognition that the APL initiative has received from the sector throughout the country, motivates the Aragon Government to continue with its commitment to improve the Aragonese logistics supply with new projects. This is particularly focused on the initiatives focused on new connections for the goods and which is completed with the first level offer in specific training of the sector – especially with the Zaragoza Logistics Centre Foundation – and in research and innovation centres such as the Technological Institute of Aragon (ITA).
