TECHNICAL DATA
1. What is Plhus?
The Huesca Logistics Platform occupies a total area of 1 157 062 metres squared distributed in the following way:
- Green spaces for public use: 115 456.18 metres squared
- Equipment areas for social interest: 96 809.06 metres squared
- Area for activities: 657 506 metres squared, split into
- Railway industrial logistics area: 274 409.58 metres squared
- Small industrial logistics area: 74 776.52 metres squared
- Medium industrial logistics area: 168 570.13 metres squared
- Large industrial logistics area: 129 768.57 metres squared
- Services area: 9 981.50 metres squared
- Road and parking network: 170 390.28 metres squared
- Rail area: 102 991.43 metres squared
- Infrastructures: 13 908.82 metres squared
Plhus is strategically located next to the A-23 motorway, which funnels all north-south travel in the region with Zaragoza, a gateway to the east, south and centre in the peninsula. Furthermore, it is in the vicinity of the future Pamplona-Huesca-Lleida motorway, a key east-west travel area for the north-east of the peninsula via the Ebro depression.
2. Hydraulic cycle
2.1 Water supply system
Plhus has two independent water supply sources, which guarantees its supply with total security.
The first supply outlet is enabled through a connection point with a pipeline owned by Huesca Council, which integrates Plhus into the city's supply network. This connection with the municipal network is made through a ductile cast iron pipe with a 300 millimetre diameter.
The second collection is made as a supply to the regulation reservoirs located in the the Drinking Water Treatment Station (ETAP) and comes from a pump from the Valdabra reservoir. These regulation reservoirs are also connected to the municipal network. Through a valves system, it’s possible to connect both supply sources.
Plhus has a dual network of water supply throughout the platform: one network provides drinking water for human consumption and the other network supplies industrial water, intended for the irrigation of green spaces, fire protection networks and industrial processes.
2.2 Drinking Water Treatment System
Plhus has a omnifiltration Drinking Water Treatment System with a capacity of 150 cubic metres a day.
This filtration system consists of two steps: consists of two stages: a first in which two minerals are provided and a second in which three are provided, with different grades, in successive vertical layers. The treatment line is based on a pre-chlorination followed by omnifiltration which includes: injection of coagulant (alumina sulphate), injection of flocculant at the beginning of the second stage, and injection of hypochlorite for the disinfection of riverbeds. The treatment flow is 320 cubic meters per hour in each line.
2.3 Drainage and sanitation
Plhus has a uunitary system of rainwater and waste water collection This network has storm tanks, designed to relieve storm water flows for which there is not sufficient capacity in the sanitation network.
This network is capable of evacuating all faecal water generated on the Platform, as well as collecting the first rains which drag all the accumulated dirt from the roads.
Under the main access road to the Platform, an emissary sewage collector has been implemented which connects Plhus with Huesca’s perimeter ring. This perimeter ring collects sewage water from Huesca city and brings it to Huesca’s Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). In this way, Plhus is integrated in Huesca’s treatment network.
In the southeastern part of the Platform, there is a Wastewater Pumping Station (WWPS), which aims to boost the flows collected by the Plhus unit network and raise them to its drain in the collector located under the main road.
3. Electric energy
The Plhus electricity supply is carried out via a 132 kilovolts and 18 kilometre line, originating in the Plasencia del Monte Substation and ending at the Plhus Substation. Plhus has its own 80 MVA substation, capable of transforming from 132 kilovolts to 15 kilovolts.
The medium voltage network consists of six independent circuits that return to the substation, with the same input and output to guarantee the supply. The entire network is underground, with cables directly buried on an area bed, except at the road junctions.
The plots with a buildable area of less than 3500 square meters have a low voltage supply with their corresponding switchboards. In addition, Plhus has a medium voltage connection to the power grid, to ensure a second supply source.
4. Services and interesting information
Plhus offers the following service networks:
- Drainage and sanitation of rain and waste water
- Drinking water
- Industrial water
- Gas
- Electricity, low and medium voltage
- Telecommunications
Regarding this last section, it is expected that up to three telecommunications companies will operate in the Plhus site. In order to offer this service, a large number of 110mm tubes have been introduced in the service area to accommodate different operators. There is also a fibre optic network.
5. Plhus’ main road axis
Plhus’ main avenue has respected the old Pebredo road, keeping the holm oaks that flanked the old road. This old road has been transformed into a pedestrian boulevard that gives the platform a pleasant green space. The rest of the Plhus roads are large, which facilitates the traffic of all types of industrial vehicles. Public car parks are available on all roads.
6. Access
Currently, Plhus has direct access from the A-23 motorway, providing a connection with Zaragoza, Pamplona and Lleida. It is a weight-type access, which guarantees operation connections between the different routes.
Currently, the project for implementing a new connection with the Huesca urban road has already been drafted, providing Plhus with direct access to the city's network. This new road will connect the main Plhus road with Avenida Martínez de Velasco via a roundabout .
The Huesca Southern Variant project is also been drafted. This new motorway will connect the A-23 motorway with the A-22 motorway for the south of the city. A direct exit to Plhus from this new motorway has been planned.
